Senator Keyamo apologies to the Senate During Ministering Screening

Festus Keyamo, former Minister of State for Labour and Employment and ministerial nominee, apologized to the Senate for his apparent contempt for the Ninth Assembly. He also apologized to Senator Godiya Akwashiki and his House of Representatives counterpart. Keyamo apologized for the World Bank’s handling of the initiative and the perceived contempt for the Ninth Assembly. He claimed that the heads of agencies never saw a kobo and that the account details were recorded and saved in a file.

Keyamo, who was nominated at the last minute by President Bola Tinubu, went before the Senate for his ministerial candidacy. Darlington Nwokocha attempted to halt the nominee’s screening, citing insults to lawmakers and corruption allegations against him. Nwokocha further emphasized his contempt for the 2020 National Assembly summons in relation to the employment scheme of 774,000 Nigerians hired for the special public works program.

Senator Nwokocha advocated delaying the examination of the nomination until there was more information. The Senate had a rowdy session that was calmed down by Senate President Godswill Akpabio. The session was adjourned, and the Red Chamber was returned to order. Following the meeting, Akpabio went to the villa. When the plenary began three hours later, Keyamo apologized to MPs.
