PEPT Judgment: Osinbajo finally reacts to Tinubu’s victory over Atiku, Obi

Former Vice President, Prof. Yemi Osinbajo, has reacted to the Presidential Election Petition Tribunal judgment that validated the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC’s declaration of Bola Ahmed Tinubu as the winner of the February 25, 2023 election.
A statement he personally signed, which was released by his media office, described the PEPT ruling as victory for democracy and the rule of law.
“The ruling is a great victory for Nigeria’s constitutional democracy and the rule of law,” he said.
According to Osinbajo, who contested the All Progressives Congress, APC primary election and came third behind Tinubu and former Transport Minister, Chibuike Amaechi, the practice of democracy in the country has been further strengthened.
Odukoya buried in Lagos

Friends and family members of the late founder of Fountain of Life Church (FOLC) in Lagos, Pastor Taiwo Odukoya, bade farewell to the preacher as he was laid to rest on Saturday.
In his sermon, Bishop David Abioye of the Living Faith Church, Lagos, described the late preacher as a man of strong character who started and ended well in the heavenly race.
Speaking at the event, Mrs Yewande Jacob, a member of the church, said that the congregants knew that their pastor had gone to heaven, which was the reason that they celebrated instead of mourning him
Jacob described the late preacher as a mentor, teacher, and counsellor who taught younger ones how to relate to the opposite sex without compromising Christian values as singles.
She said that as a philanthropist, the pastor aided many families both within and outside the church, including many indigent students.
Wike To Start Rehabilitation Of Abuja Roads

As part of efforts to improve road infrastructure in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), the minister, Nyesom Wike, says he would on September 11, flag-off the re-surfacing and rehabilitation of existing roads and remedial works on bridges of major roads in the territory.
In a statement signed by the director of press affairs in his office, Anthony Ogunleye, the minister said the re-surfacing project would cover 135 roads within Garki, Wuse, Gwarimpa and Maitama districts.
According to the statement, the flag-off ceremony will take place along the Ladoke Akintola Boulevard, Garki II, Abuja.
“This will be the first major infrastructure development project of the minister who has expressed determination to ensure rapid infrastructure development of the nation’s capital. The flag-off event will take place at 2:00pm,” he stated.
Borno lost $6.8bn to B’Haram insurgency, says Shettima

Vice President Kashim Shettima on Saturday said the post-insurgency assessment in the North-East showed that attacks by Boko Haram cost the region $9bn, out of which Borno State, the epicentre of the insurgency, lost $6.8bn.
Speaking in Maiduguri, the Borno State capital, when he flagged off palliative distribution for states in the region by the North East Development Commission Shettima, a former governor of the state, lamented how several emirs were displaced without any emirate to govern.
The initiative by the NEDC was part of its efforts to cushion the effect of the fuel subsidy removal on people in the region.
Shettima, who also declared the eighth North-East Governors’ Forum meeting open at the Borno State Government House, Maiduguri, said the NEDC was fulfilling its mandate of rehabilitating and resettling victims of the insurgency.
He added, “A lot of our emirs here were emirs without emirate. Ten years ago, the palace that Governor Babagana Zulum calls home was under the control of Boko Haram. 10 years ago, the hometown of the governor of Yobe State was under the grip of Boko Haram. 10 years ago, a chunk of the North-East was under Boko Haram. Maiduguri was effectively encircled apart from Maiduguri/Kano Road that was sporadically attacked by Boko Haram.
