What I Told Tinubu About Maryam Shetty – Ganduje

Dr. Abdullahi Gnaduje, National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), has provided some answers on the situation involving former ministerial contender Maryam Shetty.

Remember that President Bola Tinubu replaced Shetty with Mariya Mahmoud Bunkure, a commissioner during Ganduje’s tenure as governor.

According to The Punch, the former governor admitted that the social media anger that accompanied Shetty’s appointment contributed to her resignation, and he called social media “very powerful.”

On Saturday, he gave an interview to a few Kano radio stations.

“The president has advisors on ministerial nominees at the national and state levels,” he stated. The president has the authority to nominate anybody he wants, and he has the authority to consult persons in states who know those who are competent in carrying out the obligations.

“Maryam Shetty’s name rose to the top, and since Mr. President has the right to do whatever he wants and we are his supporters, one must be patient; we did not object.” In addition, she was unfamiliar to us. We were unable to evaluate her.

“However, she (Maryam Shetty) was suddenly targeted on social media.” People questioned her ethics and experience, and many questioned her qualifications to represent Kano at the national level. Dissatisfaction was rising. The people of Kano are dissatisfied, not Ganduje.

“President Bola Tinubu was drawn to the torrent of criticism that greeted Shetty’s nomination.” The president inquired if I had nominated Mary Shetty. No, I said. He inquired as to how her name ended up on the list. I informed him that I had no notion.

“When he asked if there was a need to replace her, I said yes, because the ministerial slot requires someone with integrity, knowledge, experience, and commitment to the party – all of which contributed to the Tinubu administration’s formation.” We are best placed to recommend someone from Kano to meet these standards. Even if someone recommended someone, we should have been consulted.

“For this, we were allowed to nominate someone from Kano, and because the slot was designated for a female, we consulted widely.” Females had contributed to Kano State’s development strategy. My commissioner for higher education, Dr. Mariya Bunkure, is a licensed physician. Kano South had been moaning about being marginalized, even though I had given them SSG and other major political positions. These are some of the motivations behind her name.

“But, at the very least, we are pleased because the people of Kano are pleased with the current development.” The clarification is not intended to offend anyone, but rather to state the reality of what occurred. People questioned her suitability, which is why he was fired, but that doesn’t mean she won’t get another chance.”
