Alhaji Abdullahi Ganduje, National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), has said that Maryam Shetty’s appointment was removed because of social media outcry according to Sahara Reporters.
President Bola Tinubu had withdrawn Shetty as a cabinet nominee scheduled for vetting from Kano State. However, in an interview with select radio stations in Kano on Saturday. The former governor stated that Shetty was sacked because people questioned her competence.
Ganduje stated that cabinet appointments should be made to people who have honesty, expertise, experience, and devotion to the party, as well as what the candidate has given to Tinubu’s administration.
“Maryam Shetty’s name rose to the top, and since Mr President has the right to do as he pleases and we are his supporters, one must be patient; we did not object,” he stated. In addition, she was unfamiliar to us. We were unable to evaluate her.
“However, she (Maryam Shetty) was suddenly targeted on social media.” People questioned her ethics and experience, and many questioned her qualifications to represent Kano at the national level. Dissatisfaction was rising. The people of Kano are dissatisfied, not Ganduje.
