The Minister of Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, on Wednesday, clarified that he is working for President Bola Tinubu and not the All Progressives Congress.

“I am not working for APC. I am working for Tinubu who have trust in me to help him deliver the renewed hope,” Wike said when he featured on Channels TV Politics Today.

He added, “I owe nobody any apology at all. I was in PDP and I worked for Ahmed Bola Tinubu to become the President of Nigeria”.

Tinubu Reacts To Coup In Gabon, Condemns Action

President Bola Tinubu has reacted to the latest coup in Gabon, where President Ali Bongo has been outsted and placed under house arrest.

Recall that some military personnel had hinged their plot to seize power from Bongo on what they termed as observed flaws in the recent general election in the central African country.

The officers had also admitted that the organisation of the general elections of August 26, 2023, did not meet the conditions for a transparent, credible and inclusive ballot so much hoped for by the people of Gabon.

Tinubu Seeks Consensus

President Bola Tinubu has said a comprehensive consensus against the spread of “contagious autocracy” across Africa is the next step forward with respect to how the power in Gabon will play out.

The Nigerian leader noted that he is committed to working with other heads of state to defend democracy on the continent.

President Tinubu stated this in his first response to the early morning Wednesday coup in Gabon, according to a statement by the Presidential spokesperson, Ajuri Ngelale.

Zamfara Vows To Bring Back Sharia Law

The Zamfara State Government has vowed to revive and improve the application of Islamic law in the state.

This was disclosed by the State’s Commissioner for Religious Affairs while speaking with journalists in Gusau, the state capital.

The commissioner added that he was already seeking support from relevant stakeholders and authorities to ensure the entrenchment of the Sharia legal system in the state.
