Fashola Denies Writing Judgement for Presidential Election Tribunal

Babatunde Fashola, a former minister of works and housing, has refuted allegations that he is involved in drafting a judgement for the Presidential Election Petition Tribunal (PEPT). The accusations, made by Twitter user Jackson Ude, suggested Fashola and some All Progressives Congress (APC) lawyers were preparing a tribunal judgement.

However, Fashola’s media advisor, Hakeem Bello, released a statement on Sunday asserting that his principal has been absent from Abuja for an extended period and termed the accusations as groundless and defamatory. Bello also urged security agencies to address the dissemination of false information and hinted at a scheme to undermine the judiciary.

“Fashola expressed his disappointment with the spread of this false information on social media platforms and has called on security agencies to take action against those responsible for spreading fake news,” the statement reads in part.

PDP Chieftain, Anyim Pius Visits Ganduje

On Sunday, Dr. Abdullahi Ganduje, the National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), extended his hospitality to Anyim Pius Anyim, a prominent figure within the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), at his residence in Abuja.

During their interaction, Anyim, a former Secretary to the Government of the Federation, engaged in discussions with Ganduje. However, the details and outcomes of their meeting remain undisclosed, as reported by Daily Trust.

It’s worth noting that earlier in July, Anyim had also convened with President Bola Tinubu at Aso Rock, a development that was widely perceived as a potential indication of a strategic move towards aligning with the ruling APC.

Ministerial Nominee: Tinubu Has no Idea How Shetty Made List – Ganduje

Abdullahi Ganduje, the National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), has revealed the reason behind the removal of Shetty Maryam from the ministerial list.

Ganduje clarified that Shetty was removed from the list because President Bola Tinubu was unaware of how her name came to be included.

Furthermore, the APC National Chairman emphasized the necessity for Kano State to nominate a minister possessing integrity and experience.

The Senate had initially set a screening date for Shetty on Friday; however, prior to the session, Tinubu replaced her with Mariya Mahmoud Mairiga Bunkure.

In a recent appearance on a Kano-based radio station, Ganduje expounded that Shetty’s removal was prompted by the considerable criticism surrounding her ministerial nomination.

“President Bola Tinubu’s attention was drawn to the torrent of criticisms greeting Shetty’s nomination. The president asked whether I had nominated Maryam Shetty. I said no. He asked how then her name appeared on the list. I told him I had no idea whatsoever,” said Ganduje.

Coup: Tinubu Meets With Northern Govs Sharing Boundary with Niger

On Sunday evening, President Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu engaged in discussions with the Northern Governors representing states sharing a border with Niger Republic at the Presidential Villa in Abuja.

Though the exact focus of the meeting remained undisclosed, a reliable source from the presidency indicated that it was a component of the President’s consultations concerning the situation in Niger.

The purpose behind the gathering, as per the same source, was to gather insights from the Northern Governors as the expiration of the seven-day ultimatum for the military to reinstate the ousted President approached.

It’s pertinent to recall that the ECOWAS Heads of State and Government had issued a ultimatum about a week ago, directing the military junta responsible for the removal of the democratically elected President, Mohamed Bazoum.
