Northern States Governors’ Forum has applauded the emergence of their erstwhile colleague, Abdullahi Umar Ganduje as the new National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress, APC.

A statement issued on Thursday by the Forum’s Chairman and Gombe State Governor, Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya, said Ganduje’s election not only underscored the trust and confidence fellow party stakeholders and members have in him but reflects his exceptional leadership abilities. The statement also hailed the election of former Senate spokesman, Senator Ajibola Basiru, as the National Secretary of the party.

He reminded Ganduje that his distinguished tenure as the governor of Kano State demonstrated his commitment to the welfare of the people and the development of the APC, and the nation. “As the newly elected national chairman, you hold a critical position in steering our great party towards a united and prosperous future.

Atiku cautions ECOWAS on military engagement

Former Vice President, Atiku Abubakar has warned the leadership of the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) against the engagement of the military to restore democratic order in Niger Republic.

Atiku, in a statement signed by himself in Abuja on Thursday, insisted that the crisis in Niger required sustained diplomatic engagements. According to him, the military intervention in Niger had created tension across the West Africa sub-region, a development that has caused international attention to the neighboring country, Nigeria.

Atiku said, “Of course, the world expects Nigeria to take up leadership in ensuring that the crisis of political leadership in the Republic of Niger is not just curtailed but also ensuring the restoration of democratic governance in that country. “As the ECOWAS continues to work towards reinstating democracy in the Republic of Niger, it must be reinforced that the regional body should not travel the road of military hostilities that may exacerbate the situation.

Tinubu’s CBN investigator, Obazee, laments media attacks

Former Chief Executive Officer of the Financial Reporting Council of Nigeria, Jim Obazee, has alleged slander against him over some imaginary financial impropriety, describing it as “outrageous falsehood.”

His lawyer, Anayo Mbah, who spoke at a press conference in Lagos on Thursday, said the malicious campaign was meant to abuse the minds of the people against Obazee. Obazee was on July 28 appointed by President Bola Tinubu as a special investigator to probe the Central Bank of Nigeria and related entities.

His lawyer said there had been a series of negative narratives published by some online media to tarnish Obazee’s reputation since the announcement of his appointment. Mbah said, “We challenge the peddlers of the false and malicious statements to produce the petition(s) and criminal charge(s) filed against Mr. Obazee, as well as the judgment(s) of the court convicting or sentencing him for any such criminal offenses.

Women and youth stakeholders in Nasarawa State have commended President Bola Tinubu for nominating a female indigene of the state, Iman Suleiman Ibrahim, as a minister.

Speaking at a rally held in Lafia on Thursday by the women and youth stakeholders, the Director General of the state’s Human Capital Development Agency, Habiba Balarabe-Suleiman, who spoke for the groups, said the appointment of the ministerial nominee had brought great joy to many residents of the state.
