Adamu Resigns As APC Chair

The National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Senator Abdullahi Adamu, tendered his resignation last night, Daily Trust reliably gathered.

Credible sources confirmed to this paper that Adamu, who emerged as the national chairman at the party’s national convention held in March 2022, has sent his resignation letter to the Presidential Villa, Abuja ahead of the return of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu from the African Union (AU) meeting in Kenya.

One of the sources said Adamu, a former governor of Nasarawa State, sent the resignation letter to the Chief of Staff of the President, Femi Gbajabiamila, around 4pm on Sunday.

Buhari Condoles FCT Council Of Imams’ Chairman Over Mother’s Death

Former President Muhammadu Buhari has commiserated with the Chairman, Council of Imams in the Federal Capital Territory, FCT and Chief Imam, Fouad Lababidi Central Mosque, Wuse Zone 3 Abuja, Dr. Tajudeen Adigun Bello, following the death of his mother, Hajiya Aishatu Muhammad Bello Adigun.

Buhari’s condolence message to the prominent Islamic leader who is currently away on pilgrimage to Saudi Arabia was contained in a statement released by his spokesman, Malam Garba Shehu.

The former President, who expressed condolences and that of his family to Dr Adigun and his family in this hour of grief, prayed to Allah to repose her soul.

Ex-PDP nat’l chair, Ogbulafor, for burial July 28

The remains of former national chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Prince Vincent Ogbulafor, would be laid to rest in his home town, Obuohia, Itaja autonomous community in Olokoro Umuahia South of Abia State on July 28.

Ogbulafor died in Canada at the age of 73 on October 6, 2022 after a brief illness.

A statement by his son, Uche Ogbulafor, said a national day of tributes would be held in his honour on July 20 at the International Conference Centre (ICC), Abuja.

“The family will be highly honoured to also have you join us to honour the late Prince Ogbulafor, at the event. As our Igbo brothers and sisters resident in Abuja and political associates, we particularly invite you to the national day of tributes and the Requiem Mass at The Church of Assumption, Asokoro on Wednesday July 19, 2023.”

Late Ogbulafor, a distinguished statesman, an astute politician and a philanthropist, served meritoriously as Special Adviser (Economic Affairs) to the Governor of Abia State, Commissioner for Works, Lands, Housing and Transport in Abia State, Minister of the Federal Republic of Nigeria (Economic Matters and Special Projects, Presidency) National Secretary, and National Chairman of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), among other positions of responsibility.

Anambra APC tasks Tinubu to appoint only known, committed members

Anambra State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has appealed to President Bola Tinubu to appoint in his cabinet, boards and parastatals only known and committed party members in the state.

Stakeholders of the party in their meeting at the weekend, stated categorically that only card carrying party members who have been contributing to the growth of the party in the state should be given appointments by the president.

The party also resolved to write down the names of 50 members from all the 21 local government areas of the state for submission, for considerations for appointments.

State chairman of the party, Chief Basil Ejidike, while addressing party stakeholders said the Tinubu presidency should give members of the party in the state the enablement to reap from their hard work over the years.
