Tinubu's Aide: Workers to Receive Double Minimum Wage

Ajuri Ngelale, President Bola Tinubu’s media and publicity adviser, assured Nigerians that their salaries would increase by at least twofold once the new minimum wage takes effect.

During a recent interview on Channels Television’s Politics Today, Ngelale discussed the Tinubu administration’s plans to allete the impact of subsidy removal.

According to Vanguard, the presidential spokesperson also disclosed that governors nationwide have received no less than 300 billion naira since the administration’s inception.

Although he refrained from preempting the work of the minimum wage committee in individual states, Ngelale emphasized that the president is determined to see a doubling of the current minimum wage.

He further revealed that, as of June, 36 states had received a staggering 300 billion naira, the highest amount in the past two years.

The government’s efforts extend to reducing the cost of food and energy for the Nigerian populace, with initiatives supporting transport companies, agriculture interventions, and SME capitalization. During the last NEC meeting, all states reached a consensus to support the implementation of the new minimum wage.
