Tinubu withdraws Maryam Shetty and submits Festus Keyamo's name for ministerial Nomination

President Bola Tinubu has proposed festus Keyamo, a senior advocate of Nigeria, for consideration and approval by the senate as a minister of the Federal Republic of Nigeria. Mr. Tinubu replaced dr. Mairiga Mahmud, who is also from Kano, with dr. Maryam Shetty, a former Kano candidate.

Senate president Godswill Akpabio made the announcement on friday during a plenary session. However, the president has withdrawn Maryam Shetty nomination as well as dr. Maigari Mahmud of Kano state for a cabinet position.

In a letter sent to senate president Godswill Akpiabio by president Tinubu that was read at the plenary on Friday, he stated the following: “in a letter to senate president Godswill Akpiabio, president Tinubu said the following:

“in accordance with the provisions of the Federal Republic of Nigeria constitution, section 147 sub section 2 as amended.and a follow-up to my earlier correspondence dated August. 2, 2023.

I have decided to withdraw dr.Maryam Shetty appointment.furthermore, i am pleased to nominate dr. Mariga Mahmud and mr Festus Keyamo for consideration and, if necessary, confirm by the senate as ministers. “while wishing that the above request will receive the kind consideration and approval of the senate, please accept the following requests. “the total number of ministerial candidates has reached a record 48.
