I Never Imagined Just One Loss Of An Election Can Send Some Characters Into Depression-Festus Keyamo

Former minister under the Buhari administration, Festus Keyamo, has criticized members of opposition parties for their reactions to the written address by President Bola Tinubu’s legal team regarding his eligibility for office. Tinubu’s lead counsel, Wole Olanipekun, argued that disqualifying Tinubu for failing to receive 25% of votes in the FCT could lead to anarchy.

Keyamo said supporters of opposition parties are losing their minds and coming up with twisted interpretations of the address. He claimed that just one election loss has sent some people into depression and irrational behavior. As members of the opposition in the past, Keyamo said they had lost several elections but never engaged in such absurdities.

The senior advocate’s warning of possible anarchy if Tinubu was disqualified has provoked varied responses. Keyamo accused the opposition of deliberately misconstruing the address to mean Tinubu’s supporters would instigate chaos if he was disqualified.

According to Keyamo, Olanipekun simply meant that arbitrarily changing the rules to disqualify Tinubu outside of existing laws could trigger instability, not that Tinubu supporters would react violently. He believes opposition members are spinning the address for political gain.

Keyamo maintained that Tinubu has an unassailable lead and remains the rightful winner of the election based on valid votes cast. He advised the opposition to accept defeat gracefully without promoting unreasonable interpretations of the written address for political mileage.
