Tinubu, N8000 For Millions Of Nigerians Does Absolutely Nothing To The Economy And The People–Dumebi Kachikwu

The Former Presidential Candidate of Action Democratic Congress (ADC), Dumebi Kachikwu reacting to President Tinubu plan to give eight thousand Naira to twelve million families for six months, alleged that eight thousand Naira to a million of Nigerians will do absolutely nothing to the economy and the people. He said this during his interview with Arise . Dumebi stated that what Tinubu should have done was to temporarily suspend subsidies and put in place structures that will prevent the people from abusing subsidies. And not to give them palliatives.

Recall that President Bola Tinubu had revealed that he will appoint thirty-six Minister in his administration and he also revealed his plan to pay eight thousand Naira to twelve million families in Nigeria for six months to assist them cop with the hike in petrol price.

Dumebi alleged that he expected President Bola Tinubu to have learnt from the failure of former President Muhammadu Buhari cash policy and come up with a better plan to elevate the lives of Nigerians but not to give them palliatives for six months. However, strongly believes that for Tinubu to achieve a better Nigeria, money meant for palliatives should be used to provide good health care facilities, better roads and sustainable power supply.

He said, “What President Bola Tinubu should have done was to have suspended subsidies temporarily and put in place a refined process that ensures that people don’t abuse subsidies. While former President Muhammadu Buhari’s government failed in their cash policy and I expected President Tinubu’s government to have come up with a better plan. People look at the fact that if you give money to the lower class of the economy, the money will activate the economy, but the truth is that in Nigeria, eight thousand Naira to millions of people does absolutely nothing for the economy and the people and President Tinubu should not have bought that idea, according to the saying that a leader is as good as his advisers I believe that the people who advised him to have made this policy were wrong because that money can go into something that all Nigerians can benefit from. They should start bringing in mass transit systems. Invest in healthcare, power, and better roads.”
