Tinubu has nothing to gain from removing Adamu for not supporting him – Muiz Banire

Muiz Banire, a former legal adviser to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), expressed that President Bola Tinubu would not benefit from the removal of Abdullahi Adamu, the party’s National Chairman, due to lack of support. Banire made these remarks during an interview on Channels Television’s Politics Today on Monday. As a former commissioner in Lagos state during Tinubu’s governorship, Banire absolved the President of any involvement in the current leadership situation within the APC. He emphasized that even if Adamu did not support Tinubu’s bid for the presidency initially, Tinubu would not have any incentives to remove him as the party’s Chairman.

Banire further suggested that the resignations of Adamu and National Secretary Iyiola Omisore might have been coerced rather than voluntary, potentially due to discontent among certain members of the National Working Committee (NWC).

Senator Abubakar Kyari was announced as the new APC National Chairman, with Adamu and Omisore’s resignations as national officers of the party occurring shortly before this development.

“So, it’s not unlikely that it is as a result of such issues that have been in the public space for some time now; maybe it has reached its peak now and couldn’t be absorbed again. They probably reacted.

“I have been reading Mr Lukman Saliu for some time; he has been raising a lot of issues, particularly bordering on maladministration of the party, misappropriation funds and so on.
