It's Embarrassing To Have Senators Following Those People That Will Take A Bow Before You- Sen Ndume

The Senate Chief Whip, Senator Ali Ndume, has noted that it is very embarrassing to see some senators following individuals that will come into the senate chamber and take a bow before them, so as to be confirmed by the senators.

Senator Ali Ndume made this disclosure at the senate chamber, while cautioning some senators that followed the service chiefs out of senate chamber to congratulate them after their confirmation, noting that the action of those senators is against the conduct of the senate.

Speaking further, Senator Ali Ndume urged Senators not to do such next time, because they are still going to confirm more people, including Ministers, Inspector General of Police. He further noted that once the Senate is done with their confirmation, the senators should allow those confirmed to go and no one should leave his or her sit to greet them.

He said: “It’s kind of embarrassing to have senators following those people that will come and bow before you out of the senate chamber. So please next time, we are going to have more of this, a minister will come, IG will come. So once we are done with them, just as we permit them to come into this chamber, nobody should leave his seat to go and greet them.

In addition, he noted that if any Senator wants to greet somebody greet or extend his or her personal relationship, he or she should wait till the day and not after the confirmation, describing it as embarrassing.
