According to Okonkwo, Tinubu played a pivotal role in making Buhari the President and has maintained control of the APC since 2015. He raised doubts about Tinubu’s statement regarding his political role in the country, emphasizing the significance of being the leader of a ruling party as a position of immense power and authority.

He said, “What is the most powerful political office that you can hold if not to be the leader of a political party? And he transcended to be the leader of the country. And he’s still telling you he has not held any political office. The truth is that he’s in charge. Tinubu said he singlehandedly made Buhari President and he has been in charge of APC from 2015 till date. Whatever has happened in Nigeria, he should take absolute responsibility.”
