Tinubu: APC Responds to Notorious Fake News Vendor Jackson Ude's Tweet

According to PM , the APC strongly condemns a tweet circulated by Mr. Jackson Ude, a notorious purveyor of false information based in the United States.

The tweet falsely alleges that President Tinubu engaged in a telephone conversation with Olukayode Ariwoola, the Chief Justice of Nigeria (CJN), regarding the ongoing petition challenging his election before the court.

The APC, through its National Publicity Secretary, Mr. Felix Morka, put out a statement in Abuja, denouncing Ude’s claim as deliberately deceptive and highly mischievous.

The party emphasizes that the Presidential Election Petition Court (PEPC) must be allowed to carry out its duties without any form of unwarranted intervention.

The party expressed its deep concern and utter dismay over Ude’s malicious act of concocting a blatant lie on a matter of significant national significance currently being thoroughly examined by the PEPC. “We have been made aware of an extremely deceptive and deliberately misleading tweet circulated by Mr. Jackson Ude,” stated Morka.

In the tweet, Ude falsely claimed that President Tinubu engaged in a phone conversation with the CJN, during which the CJN allegedly instructed the president and the APC to brace themselves for a rerun of the presidential election.”

The APC firmly asserted that Tinubu and the party emerged as undeniable victors in the presidential election held on February 25. Morka further emphasized that neither the party nor Tinubu had any reason to initiate private discussions with the CJN concerning the ongoing petitions being reviewed by the PEPC.

As a staunch advocate of democracy, Tinubu holds the utmost respect for the rights of aggrieved candidates to pursue proper channels for addressing any grievances they may harbor.

He highlighted that the right to seek redress is well protected by both the Constitution and the Electoral Act. Morka emphasized the importance of granting the PEPC adequate time and freedom to carry out its vital constitutional and statutory role of adjudicating and issuing a verdict on the matter.

This should be done without unwarranted doubts being cast upon the integrity of our esteemed judges.

The APC firmly stated that the dissemination of falsehoods and speculations by individuals like Ude is merely an attempt to ignite political tensions, sow doubt and fear, and preemptively undermine the judgment of the courts on this significant issue.

The party expressed its unwavering confidence in the intelligence and discernment of Nigerians, who are unlikely to be swayed by such tasteless and opportunistic maneuvers employed by the opposition.
