There won’t be anarchy if you’re removed by the court – LP tells Tinubu

In response to President Bola Tinubu’s petition to dismiss the Labour Party’s (LP) challenge against his victory in the 2023 general elections, the LP has affirmed that Nigeria will not descend into anarchy if Tinubu is removed from office by the court.

According to Daily Post, Tinubu’s legal representative, Wole Olanipekun, argued in a final written address to the tribunal that the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) should be considered the 37th state for electoral purposes, thus asserting that Tinubu secured the necessary 25% of votes.

Dismissing Tinubu’s claim, the LP, represented by its National Publicity Secretary, Obiora Ifoh, emphasized that the matter is currently under the court’s jurisdiction, rendering Tinubu’s statements unnecessary.

Ifoh’s statement reiterated the LP’s stance that the APC’s attempts to influence the tribunal’s judges would not alter the legal processes and requirements that must be followed. The LP firmly believes that adhering to these established procedures is crucial.

Addressing the APC and its leaders, Ifoh stated, “If there were no absurdity, chaos, and anarchy when they forced their way into power, Nigeria will still witness peace when they are eventually evicted from power.”
