The judiciary is facing an unprecedented blackmail over Presidential Election Petition —Femi Falana

The outcome of the 2023 presidential election that made Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu the president of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, as declared by the Independent National Electoral Commission, was challenged in court by politicians and political parties.

The latest lawyer to speak about the judiciary and the petitions that have been filed is Femi Falana. In a statement that was captured by Channels Television today, the Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN) says “the judiciary is facing unprecedented blackmail and intimation over the presidential election petitions, saying that the blackmail is not necessary since there is still opportunity for an appeal at the Supreme Court”.

Falana said during the interview that “we have been having election petitions since the colonial era, but none has attracted such a level of blackmail and intimidation of the judiciary.”

According to the cable on their official website on Monday, September 4, 2023, the presidential election tribunal has fixed September 6 to deliver judgment on the petitions challenging the election of Bola Tinubu.
