Subsidy Removal: Reps to get N70 billion allocation from Tinubu’s N819 billion palliative

The House of Representatives is to get N70 billion allocation from President Bola Tinubu’s N819 billion palliative meant to cushion the effect of fuel subsidy on Nigerians.

Agency of Nigeria (NAN) report that, The amount, according to the President’s letter sent on July 12 and read by the Speaker, Rep. Tajudeen Abbas, was meant to support the working conditions of new members.

Rep. Julius Ihonvere, the Majority Leader of the House, had presented for second reading a Bill from the 2022 Supplementary Appropriation of N819 billion.

According to the majority leader, this was for the provision of palliatives to Nigerians to cushion the effect of fuel subsidy removal.

Rep. Benjamin Kalu, the deputy speaker of the House, has praised President Tinubu’s choice and noted that the palliative would address the legislative issues.

Agency of Nigeria (NAN) report that, Mr. Kalu praised the President for having an open ear and said that his audacity and bravery were admirable.

There comes a time in a nation’s history when brave and courageous leaders are required, and it would seem that Nigeria has received one in the form of Tinubu.

He added that “there comes a time in the life of a nation where a leader that is sensitive to the welfare of the people is needed,” saying that it took courage and boldness for the President to eliminate subsidy.

We seem to have found such a leader. This leader listens carefully. The executive is in response to the people’s want, and this money won’t be given away for free.

He said that the funds would also be used to address the difficulties facing the National Assembly, particularly the House of Representatives.
