South-East Leaders Allege Marginalization of Ministerial List, Speaks on Legal Action.

Last week, the Senate screened and confirm 48 ministerial nominees.

According to Vanguard newspaper, the list has caused angry reactions, especially from the south-east leaders who alleged marginalization of the zone by The President.

Apart from each of the 36 States and the federal Capital Territory getting one nominee as prescribed by the constitution, North-West and South-West geo-political zone got three extra ministers each while North-East North-Central, and South-South got two respectively, but the South-East had no extra nominees.

This has generated argument as the South-East leaders who argued that every part of the country should be fairly treated and evenly accommodated in the political equilibrium.

Speaking on the matter, Senator Tony Nwoye, representing Anambra North, argued that the South-East was shortchanged in the nominations

But Mr Reno Omokri commended President Bola Tinubu for his nomination.

However, stakeholders urged the Ohaneze Ndigbo to initiate legal action against the Federal Government to address the imbalance if the president failed to do the needful.

The Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, honourable Benjamin Kanu, appealed for more slots in President Bola Tinubu’s Cabinet.

Furthermore, the all progressive Grand alliance governorship candidates in 2023 governorship election in Abia state commended the South-East caucus for its move to protest the marginalization.
