There won’t be anarchy if you’re removed by the court – LP to Tinubu

According to Daily Post , it was reported that the Nigerian Labour Party (LP) has dismissed concerns of potential anarchy in Nigeria following President Bola Tinubu’s possible removal from office through a court decision.

Tinubu had requested the presidential election tribunal to reject the LP’s petition, which aimed to invalidate his victory in the 2023 general elections. The LP argued that Tinubu failed to secure the required 25% of votes in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).

Tinubu’s legal representative, Wole Olanipekun, argued in the tribunal’s final written address that the FCT should be considered the 37th state for electoral purposes. He claimed that any other interpretation would result in absurdity, chaos, anarchy, and a distortion of the legislature’s original intent.

Responding to Tinubu’s statements, the LP released a statement signed by its National Publicity Secretary, Obiora Ifoh, asserting that Tinubu’s remarks were unnecessary as the matter is already under court jurisdiction.

“We maintain that no amount of pressure from the All Progressives Congress (APC) on the tribunal judges can alter the established legal processes and requirements. They must be followed, and that is the Labour Party’s stance,” stated Ifoh.

He added, “Let me assure the APC and their leaders that if there were no instances of absurdity, chaos, and anarchy when they forcefully assumed power, Nigeria will continue to experience peace when they are eventually removed from power.”
