Shehu Sani, a former lawmaker from Kaduna and member of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), created controversy when he suggested Indians refrain from renaming their nation. As can be seen in the second screenshot below, he posted this remark on Sunday on his verified Twitter page.

He offers this opinion in response to rumors that the nation wants to rename itself from India to Bharat. Shehu Sani advised people not to change the name of the nation, pointing out that India is already a recognized global brand and is simpler to pronounce.

While his post generated numerous reactions on social media, many have also condemned the use of Bharat in place of India, while just one ‘Shameel’ claimed he likes the name.
