Peter Obi Kicks President Tinubu Offers Opposition Governors Board Slots

During a meeting of the Nigeria Governors Forum in Abuja on Tuesday night, Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq, the Governor of Kwara State and Chairman of the forum, revealed that the President had requested the governors nominate competent individuals for board positions in federal government agencies.

These agencies had their governing boards dissolved the previous month by Tinubu, who announced the dissolution of over 153 agencies, parastatals, institutions, and government-owned companies.

These boards were originally constituted by former President Muhammadu Buhari in December 2017, and the new nominations are expected to fill approximately 2,000 vacant positions.

In a communiqué issued after the NGF meeting on Wednesday, Governor Abdulrazaq stated that the forum members commended the President for allowing governors to nominate board members from different political parties.

Additionally, he mentioned that the forum received briefings from the National Emergency Management Agency and the Nigerian Meteorological Agency regarding the country’s flooding situations and the steps taken to address them thus far.
