Labour Party 2023 presidential candidate, Peter Obi has taken to social media to discredit the news of him planning on contesting for the office of the presidency in the next presidential election, which is in four years time.
The former Anambra state governor who discredited such reports through his official Twitter account, stated that he has noticed with dismay, and emerging pattern where fake media reports and news items are predicted on interviews and press remarks that he never granted, adding that two recent instances relate to his saying that he is looking forward to running for office in 2027 on a supposed Arise TV interview that never took place.
The businessman further revealed that the other instance was about his reaction to prospective appointees into the federal government, adding that both reports are bogus and the country’s politics have regrettably sunk below the level where manipulation of the media space is now a trade.
Speaking further, Peter Obi noted that he shall continue to speak on topical national issues through recognized news and media outlets but he will not concern himself with cheap distractive trolls, adding that his focus and that of the Obidient Movement will not derail from the original mission of creating a new Nigeria which they believe is possible.
Peter Obi went ahead to state that their emphasis has never been on political positions or personal aggrandizement, but on putting the nation on the right footing and deeping their democracy by helping to elevate and empower the downtrodden in the society.
The politician finally revealed that, that was why their messages during the electioneering campaigns were all issue-driven.
