PEPT verdict: Judiciary upheld rule of law over sentiments – Sen Opeyemi Bamidele

Micheal Opeyemi Bamidele who is the Senate Majority Leader, has commended the judiciary for confirming President Bola Ahmed Tinubu as the winner of the February 25, 2023 presidential election. Saying that the confirmation showed that the judiciary upheld the rule of law over emotions.

According to Daily Post Nigeria, Bamidele stated this in a statement he issued on Thursday where he also called on the petitioners to accept the verdict of the tribunal and give their support to President Tinubu.

He said the judgement has proven that Nigerian really casted their votes for the president and used the medium to congratulate him for the outcome of the Wednesday’s PEPT ruling.

The statement reads in part, “I commend the Presidential Election Petition Tribunal, PEPT, for upholding the rule of law over emotions.

“The verdict of the Justices has once again reaffirmed that Nigerians overwhelmingly voted for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu during the February 25, presidential election. Politics is over, it is now time for governance,”
