Niger Coup: You're a novice in international diplomacy –Sule Lamido Chides Bola Tinubu

Sule Lamido, a former Governor of Jigawa State and a key figure in the Peoples Democratic Party, which is the main opposition party, has labeled President Bola Ahmad Tinubu as inexperienced when it comes to international diplomacy.

Lamido’s comments came as a response to ECOWAS’s position on the coup in Niger Republic. He expressed his thoughts on his official Facebook account, under a post titled “Nigeria/Niger face off.”

According to Lamido, over the past few weeks, President Bola Tinubu has been grappling with how to handle the Niger situation, walking on a precarious path. In dealing with this delicate matter, Lamido suggested that the President should seek guidance from Nigeria’s former Presidents and Heads of State, leveraging their insights and expertise.

Sule Lamido wrote his verified facebook account:: “In the last couple of days, two brotherly and sisterly countries were almost on the brink of war neither of which any of them could fathom or justify.

“since the coup d’etat in Niger some weeks back, President Tinubu has found himself walking on a very tightrope.

“He has never been exposed to international diplomacy and can fittingly be called a novice in this field. The fact that he is an emperor with the total dominance of the most populous and prosperous State of Lagos does not confer on him any wisdom in diplomacy.

“But he is also the luckiest Nigerian president had he desired to harvest from the wisdom and experience of former Presidents and Heads of State Nigeria is so richly blessed with.”
