PEPT: It's Highly Suspicious That Bola Tinubu Traveled To India On The Eve Of The Judgement- James Ezike

Nigerian lawyer James Ezike has raised suspicions regarding President Bola Tinubu’s overseas trip on the eve of the Presidential Election Tribunal’s judgment. In an interview with Arise TV news, Mr. Ezike voiced his concerns and pointed out that it’s unusual for a sitting president to leave the country just before a crucial judgment that could potentially affect his election victory.

He expressed a broader concern about the historical patterns in Nigeria’s democratic system. Mr. Ezike asserted that it has become a norm that no court has ever ousted an incumbent president since the inception of democracy in the Fourth Republic. This, he argued, is a worrying trend. He also stated the fact that the difficulty in defeating an incumbent president is compounded by the frequent changes made to electoral laws in the country.

Hear him: ”It’s highly suspicious that Bola Tinubu traveled to India on the eve of the judgement. Without being worried that behind his back, they may say he lost the election. He’s in a foreign land. But what I would like to day more importantly id that it’s not unexpected, no elected President has ever lost in the Supreme Court, none since we started democracy. And that is worrisome. And another thing that makes it difficult for an incumbent to be defeated is that we change our laws.”
