PDP Queries PEPT Over Inscription Of 'Tinubu Legal Team' On Certified True Copy Of Court Judgment

In the wake of the judgment it delivered in which it dismissed the petitions challenging the outcome of the February 25 polls, the Presidential Election Petitions Tribunal (PEPT) has been asked by the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to explain the appearance of a title referring to the legal team representing the APC, and its flag bearer, Bola Ahmed Tinubu on the Certified True Copies of the court judgment.

According to a statement released by the Special Assistant to Atiku Abubakar on Public Communications, Phrank Shaibu, and sighted by Channels TV on Saturday, the PDP urged the Court of Appeal to not only clarify the viral picture of Certified True Copies of its judgment with the title ‘Tinubu Legal Team’ inscribed on the header (top) of the documents, but to also explain why lawyers representing the ruling party were first issued copies of the ruling before the petitioners.

Part of the statement reads; “After causing needless delay in availing the PDP presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar and his legal team Certified True Copies of its judgment, the Presidential Election Petitions Tribunal (PEPT) must explain to Nigerians and the world ambiguities around why copies of the judgment bears the header of the Tinubu Presidential Legal Team.

It is not our intention to stir up controversy on the matter, but it is very important that the PEPT should tell Nigerians why they chose to affix the header of the Respondents on the CTC copy of their judgment, whereas the copies that went to the petitioners did not have the same. Was that because the Tinubu Legal Team is deemed to be accorded special privileges? The court must explain.”
