PDP and Atiku Reject PEPC's Verdict

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and its Presidential Candidate, Atiku Abubakar, have unequivocally rejected the recent judgment of the Presidential Election Petition Court (PEPC). The opposition party, in a statement issued by its National Publicity Secretary, Hon. Debo Ologunagba, late on Wednesday in Abuja, expressed deep dissatisfaction with the verdict.

The PDP’s rejection of the judgment stems from its belief that the decision handed down by the Justices lacks logic and fails to consider the pertinent facts, constitutional provisions, and the Electoral Act. The party asserts that the judgment does not align with reason, the evidence presented in court, electoral laws, guidelines, and the Nigerian Constitution.

In a scathing assessment, Ologunagba stated, “Indeed, the Judgment is generous in technicalities and very short in delivering substantial justice in the matter.”

Despite this setback, Vanguard reported that the PDP affirms its commitment to the rule of law and plans to undertake a comprehensive review of the judgment with its legal team. The party will then determine its next course of action within the boundaries of the law.

The PDP also calls upon the Nigerian populace to maintain vigilance, stay composed, and stand united. It vows to continue leading the charge to safeguard democracy and ensure that the people’s will, as expressed in the February 25, 2023 Presidential election, is upheld and reinstated.
