Pa Fasoranti Laments Crisis in Afenifere After Appointment of Ayo Adebanjo as Leader

According to VANGUARD, Pa Reuben Fasoranti, the esteemed National leader of Afenifere, the Yoruba Socio-Political Group, has voiced his distress about the group’s recent divergence from its path and has called for immediate efforts to restore its original direction.

Speaking at the group’s gathering in Akure, the capital of Ondo state, Pa Fasoranti shared his sentiments, saying, “Since I appointed my brother, Chief Ayo Adebanjo and Oba Oladipo Olaitan as acting leader and deputy leader respectively about three years ago, a lot has happened.”

He lamented the noticeable departure from the core values of consultation, brotherhood, camaraderie, and the traditional processes that form the foundation of the group’s leadership approach. This shift, he indicated, jeopardized the organization’s collaborative leadership structure.

“This threat has been further exacerbated by more recent events, culminating in a fracture of the traditional backbone of the organization,” Pa Fasoranti stated. He expressed his sadness and disappointment at the unfolding events, acknowledging that the current state of affairs was not his initial vision or expectation when he appointed the acting leaders.

Disturbed by the potential bleak future and the gradual depletion of resources, Pa Fasoranti assembled the leaders and responsible members of the organization to strategize a solution that would steer Afenifere back on track. He urged them to engage in open and honest discussions in the spirit of comradeship and mutual respect, the cornerstones on which the organization is built.

A communique issued following the meeting, revealed that Afenifere will undergo revitalization to regain strength and fulfill its role as a vanguard for the Yoruba Race. To achieve this, a committee will be formed for reconciliation and unity, with a focus on returning Afenifere to its foundational principles and traditions.

The communique also highlighted the upcoming census and urged the Federal Government to adopt the same successful biometric method used for Voter Card registration, rather than relying on a manual process that has been susceptible to abuse in the past.

In attendance at the meeting were notable figures including Oba Olu Falae, former SGF; Dr Olusegun Mimiko, former governor of Ondo state; lyiola Omisore, former deputy governor of Osun state; Basorun Sehinde Arogbofa, former Secretary General of Afenifere; Abagun Kole Omololu, and Mr Dare Babarinsa, alongside other Yoruba leaders.
