President Bola Tinubu, Sunday said he has rejected the report by the European Unions Electoral Observer Mission on the 2023 general elections, describing the final report as a product of a poorly done desk job that relied heavily on few persons.
The president said that he has many reasons to believe the “jaundiced report”, based on the views of fewer than 50 observers, “was to merely sustain the same premature denunciatory stance contained in EU’s preliminary report released in March.”
This was contained in a statement issued by Mr. Dele Alake, Special Adviser to the President on Special Duties, Communications and Strategy, with the title, “We reject European Union’s conclusions on 2023 general elections.”
The President in the statement noted that some notable bodies like the Nigeria Bar Association, NBA, and even the electoral umpire, the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, have commended the conduct and outcome of the election.

Atiku Abubakar has hailed the European Union Election Monitoring Group for stating in its report that the last election was, indeed, fraught with electoral irregularities and failed to meet the minimum standard of credibility.
He also lambasted President Bola Tinubu and his spokesman, Dele Alake, for trying to discredit the report.
The former vice president, in a statement, said even the dead knew that the last election lacked credibility and even the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) had been unable to explain why nearly five months after the election, it had refused to upload the full result on its result viewing portal.
Even primary school children who did not vote know that INEC failed woefully and that Tinubu rigged the last election.
“The presidential election held on February 25, 2023 and yet as of July 2, 2023, the result of the election has not been fully uploaded. This is despite the fact that this election was the most expensive in the history of West Africa.
“How can an election in which the full results have not been fully uploaded after nearly five months be described as credible by any sane human being?

The Nigeria Labour Congress is set to engage President Bola Tinubu on the agitation for extension of civil servants’ retirement age to 65 years.
The National President, NLC, Joe Ajaero, told The PUNCH on Sunday that labour was not relenting on the agitation, which started under the administration of former President Muhammadu Buhari.
The PUNCH reports that the NLC had during the 2023 May Day celebrations appealed to Buhari to extend the retirement age for civil servants.
But then Minister of State for Labour, Festus Keyamo, told our correspondent that Buhari, in the twilight of his administration, would not be able to deal with the matter.
“The process to effect that change to 65 years (if it is accepted by the Federal Government) is a process that cannot be completed before the end of the tenure of Buhari. So, I guess the new administration will have to deal with that,” Keyamo had said.
Already, teachers under the employment of government at all levels, are enjoying the implementation of a new retirement age.

Valentine Ozigbo, the Special Adviser to Peter obi on Technology and Strategic Alliances, and governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in November 2021 in Anambra State, has debunked rumours that he is considering taking up an appointment with President Bola Tinubu.
Ozigbo who was a key member of the Labour Party Presidential Campaign Council during the 2023 election said he never had such discussion with anybody.
In a tweet on Saturday evening, Ozigbo said he has not had any conversation with anyone regarding taking up any appointment in Tunubu’s government, declaring that he is still 100 percent ObIdient.
He urged the members of the public to disregard such rumours.
“I haven’t had any conversation with anybody about taking up any kind of appointment with Tinubu’s government. Please disregard the rumours. I am still 100% Obidient,” Ozigbo wrote.
Recall that Ozigbo, a strong supporter of Peter Obi, a few weeks to the February 25 presidential election, advised President Tinubu who was then the candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, the candidate of the PDP to endorse Peter Obi or face defeat.
