Buhari Is Better Than Tinubu – Nigerians Cry Out

Nigerians have expressed their growing frustration with the rising cost of living and have compared the past administration of President Buhari to the new administration of President Bola Tinubu. The video captures citizens crying out for succor amidst the economic hardships they are facing under the present government.

In the video, one visibly distressed man, who claims to have voted for the All Progressives Congress (APC) due to his belief in President Bola Tinubu, voiced his disappointment. He narrated how he now feels let down and gets slapped with difficulties wherever he goes.

The man went on to compare the current administration to the previous one led by former President Buhari, stating that he believes Buhari’s tenure was better than what they are experiencing now. He conveyed the sentiment of many Nigerians who are discontented with the present administration’s performance.

Another man in the video appealed directly to the President to address the soaring fuel prices. He pleaded for a restoration of the old pump price of fuel, emphasizing that Nigerians should not be taken for granted.

Putin Meets Burkina Faso Leader, Traore

Russian President Vladimir Putin has met privately with Burkina Faso’s interim military leader, Captain Ibrahim Traore, over a situation that might not be unconnected with the Niger crisis.

While the details of the meeting were not clear as of the time of filing this report, there are speculations that the meeting was part of Putin’s plans to meet with French-speaking West African countries ruled by the military.

A short clip of the Russian leader’s meeting with Traore was posted by Jackson Hinkle on social media platform X, formerly known as Twitter, on Monday.

@jacksonhinkle wrote, “Putin held a private meeting with the world’s youngest leader, Captain Ibrahim Traore of Burkina Faso.”

Traore is the world’s youngest currently serving leader after becoming the interim leader of Burkina Faso following the coup on 30th September 2022 which ousted interim president Paul-Henri Sandaogo Damiba.

President Bola Tinubu on Tuesday said that the Economic Community of West African States, ECOWAS Heads of State and Government ultimatum against the military juncta in Republic of Niger is not a Nigeria’s ultimatum.

This is as the President has ordered the acting governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria, CBN, to make another financial sanctions against individuals and entities that are relating with the military juncta that overthrew the democratically elected government.

Briefing State House correspondents, the Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity, Ajuri Ngelale explained that the ultimatum by ECOWAS even though President Tinubu is the Chairman, remains the position of the regional body and not the position of Nigeria as a country.

He said that in recent days following the expiration of the ECOWAS ultimatum to the military juncta to reinstate the sacked democratically elected government, the President has widened his consultations.

He said, “Concerning the ultimatum given to the military Junta in Niger Public. The ECOWAS mandate, and ultimatum is not a Nigerian ultimatum. It is not a Nigerian mandate and the office of His Excellency President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, also serving as the chairman of ECOWAS seeks to emphasize this point.

“That due to certain domestic and international media coverage, tending towards a personalization of the ECOWAS sub regional position to his Preston and to our nation individually.

“It is because of this that Mr. President has deemed it necessary to state unequivocally that the mandate and ultimatum issued by ECOWAS is that of ECOWAS’s position.

“While His Excellency President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has assumed the ECOWAS chairmanship, the position of ECOWAS conveys the consensus position of member heads of state. And a coup will not occur in one’s backyard, without one be particularly aware of it.

“The President in recent days, particularly following the expiration of the ultimatum given by ECOWAS has widened consultations internationally but most especially domestically, including interfaces with state governors in Nigeria, who govern states bordering Niger public on the various fallouts and outcomes of the unfortunate situation that has unfolded in Niger Republic.

NASS transmits confirmed list of 45 ministerial nominees to presidency

The Senior Special Assistant to the President on National Assembly Matters (Senate), Senator Abdullahi Gumel, has transmitted the confirmed list of 45 ministerial nominees to the Presidency.

Gumel made this known while briefing newsmen in Abuja on Tuesday.

The Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the Senate had on Monday, confirmed the appointment of 45 ministerial nominees and put on hold the confirmation of three others.

Those not confirmed included Senator Abubakar Danladi, former Kaduna State Governor, Nasir El-Rufai and Stella Okete.

The Senate President, Godswill Akpabio, clarified that the trio were not confirmed because they were still awaiting security clearance.

Speaking to newsmen, Gumel said, “We transmitted the confirmed list yesterday (Monday) by about 11:30pm to the Chief of Staff to the President.

“The list is now with the Executive, which means that the ministerial nominees were cleared by the Senate and confirmed.”
