Obaseki, Shaibu rift: I’m concerned, Damagum should move in to resolve the crisis- Kola Ologbondiyan

A former national publicity secretary of the PDP, Kola Ologbondiyan has said he is concerned about the reports of the rift between Edo State Governor, Godwin Obaseki and his deputy, Philip Shaibu. Ologbondiyan who said the rift between the Governor and his deputy should not have come this far called on the acting national chairman of the PDP, Ambassador Umar Damagum to wade into the crisis.

Speaking on Political Paradigm, he said, “I’m concerned. I didn’t actually follow it until the incident of yesterday when they said the media crew of the deputy Governor was shut out of a function. I don’t think that issue should get there. You know it was under the leadership of Uche Secundus which I was a member that Governor Obaseki came into the PDP. And I can recall the bond that existed between him and his deputy, Philip Shaibu so much that he insisted that he must run with him. Even when the party leaders in Edo State thought otherwise, he insisted. I don’t know what could have get in between them. The feelers that I’m getting is that the deputy Governor wants to run for Governor and the Governor believes that the ticket should go to the central senatorial zone or maybe to be retained in the South and all that. But whatever the situation is, I want to appeal to the Damagum leadership to move into Edo and resolve whatever the issues are.”
