Nyesom Wike Reacts When Asked If He Was Surprised At How Much Peter Obi Got At The Last Election

The immediate past Governor of Rivers State and Minister of Works, Nyesom Wike has reacted when asked if he was surprised at how much presidential candidate of the Labour Party, Peter Obi got at the last general elections.

Recall that according to the Independent National Electoral Commission, former Governor of Lagos State and National Leader of the All Progressives Congress, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu defeated other strong contenders including Peter Obi of the Labour Party, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar of the Peoples Democratic Party and Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso of the New Nigeria Peoples Party, NNPP to clinch the apex political seat in the country.

The presidential candidates of the Labour Party, Peter Obi and that of the Peoples Democratic Party, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar challenged the victory of Bola Ahmed Tinubu in the Presidential Election Tribunal in Abuja and their petitions have been struck out by the court on Wednesday.

Channels Television reported that Nyesom Wike said; “I knew that he (Peter Obi) wouldn’t win the election.”

When asked if he was surprised at how much Peter Obi got at the last general elections, Nyesom Wike said; “I was not surprised. we have this generational change. The young people said we are tired.”

He stated further; “The only hope they were having was going to Obi as a young person or as a younger person compared to other candidates, but unknown to them, that’s not the reality of Nigerian politics.”

The recent statement by Nyesom Wike which was shared by The Channels Television on its Verified Facebook Page has generated a lot of reactions from many Nigerians on the social media platform.
