When Contractors Call Me To Insult Me, I Abuse Them Back – Umahi

Minister of Works, Dave Umahi says that irrespective of an expression of freedom of speech, he is quick to lash back at those who call him to rain abuses.

Umahi stated this Thursday on Channels Television’s Sunrise Daily while addressing contractors to be willing to changes in the country’s infrastructure system of the country.

The minister who boasted about his accessibility when he was a governor, stated that contractors during this tenure as Ebonyi leader had access to him.

“When I was governor, I had only one line and I responded to all text messages and phone calls.

“They call me to abuse me and sometimes I abuse them back – that is the beauty of democracy – freedom of speech and I am also human”.

Tinubu hail Sultan at 67

President Bola Tinubu and the Deputy Senate President, Sen. Barau Jibrin, have felicitated with Sultan of Sokoto, Muhammadu Sa’ad Abubakar who will turn 67, today, August 24, 2023.

Tinubu in a statement released by the State House on Wednesday noted that “The moment of joy and thanksgiving with the leader of the Qadiriyya Sufi Order, who also serves as Head of Jama’atu Nasril Islam (Society for the Support of Islam) and President-General of the Nigerian Supreme Council of Islamic Affairs.

“President Tinubu acknowledges the sacrifices and selflessness of the Sultan of Sokoto, who has, since his assumption of office in November 2006, worked assiduously for the sustenance of peaceful co-existence in the country, and beyond, personally traveling, intervening, mediating, and chairing meetings on the need for harmony.”

Ministers Must Deliver Or Resign, The Natives Tell Tinubu

A pro-democracy group, The Natives, has implored President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to ensure the new ministers to either deliver on his Renewed Hope Agenda or resign from office.

The Natives, which comprises various ethnic, religious and cultural backgrounds, with about 20 millions members across the country, vowed to focus on all the ministries and parastatals to ensure “it is not business as usual.”

According to the group, while President Tinubu has shown and demonstrated good leadership as a father with a large heart, the appointees must reciprocate by excellent performance or be booted out.

Osun State palliatives distribution committee has said they have resolved to wait for the second batch of rice component of allocated Federal Government fuel subsidy removal palliative before distribution to the vulnerable members of the public.
