As reported by Daily Post paper on August 29, 2023, Nyesom Wike, the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), asserted that had Peter Obi, the Labour Party’s presidential candidate, possessed stronger qualifications, Nigerians might have chosen him in the February 25, 2023 general election.
Wike made these comments during an appearance on Channels Television’s Politics Today program on Wednesday. He highlighted his previous support for President Bola Tinubu, who represented the All Progressives Congress (APC) as the presidential candidate, over Atiku Abubakar from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) during the closely contested election.
Despite Wike’s earlier involvement in discussions about presidential candidates, he said, “I don’t discuss presidential candidates any longer; I discuss the economy, the president, what he has to offer.
He added that: “if Peter Obi’s would have been better, Nigerians would have voted for him.”
