Nigerians would have voted for Peter Obi if he had been better, according to Wike

Nyesom Wike, Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), claimed that if Peter Obi, the Labour Party’s (LP) candidate, had been a better choice, Nigerians would have supported him in the election on February 25, 2023.

On Wednesday, Wike talked exclusively on the Politics Today show on Channels Television.

The former governor of Rivers State said that in the hotly contested election, he backed the All Progressives Congress (APC) presidential candidate against former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, the nominee of his party, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

Wike said that he no longer talks about presidential candidates when asked if Obi would have managed the key problems facing the Nigerian economy better than Tinubu if he had been elected.

The FCT minister stated, “I don’t want to debate social media issues

.

“I no longer talk about presidential candidates; instead, I talk about the economy, the President, and what he can do.”

“If he (Obi) had been better, Nigerians would have voted for him.”

Former Anambra State governor Obi finished third in the election won by Tinubu of the APC. The LP candidate and his PDP rival are in court to contest the Independent National Electoral Commission’s (INEC) judgment announcing Tinubu as the election’s victor.
