Niger Republic: President Tinubu Receives US Envoy, Mary Phee

President Bola Tinubu hosted Mary Phee, the United States Assistant Secretary of State for African Affairs, at the Presidential Villa in Abuja on Saturday. The meeting, as reported by VANGUARD , centered around discussions regarding the United States’ backing of the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) and regional leaders in response to the Niger crisis. During the conversation with ECOWAS Chairman President Tinubu, Phee emphasized the strong support of the United States for ECOWAS’ stance in safeguarding democracy and constitutional order in West Africa. The discussions also underscored the shared objectives of preserving Niger’s hard-fought democracy.

Furthermore, the US officials urged for the immediate release and recovery of President Mohamed Bazoum, his family, and other members of his government who have been unjustly detained. This call highlights the concern for their well-being and aligns with the principles of justice and human rights.
