Niger Coup: Tinubu Has Not Ruled Out Military Option – Presidency

According to Vanguard, the presidency has said that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has not ruled out military intervention in Niger Republic warning against allowing religious and ethnic factors to influence decisions in addressing the threat to democratic governance in the West African nation.

President Tinubu has equally ordered the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) to impose financial sanctions on individuals and entities connected to the military junta in Niger.

Briefing State House correspondents, Ajuri Ngelale, the Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity, stated that no option has been taken off the table as the West Africa region prepares for another summit on the Niger crisis.

Ngelale said, “No options have been taken off as we draw the attention of audience to the upcoming Summit scheduled to take place in Abuja on Thursday, August 10. It is anticipated that during this summit, crucial decisions will be made regarding the future actions of the regional bloc.”
