Niger Coup: The Solution Is Being Done And It Is Something We Can Not Discuss On National TV – Aliyu Gebi

Aliyu Gebi, a former lawmaker who also served as the ECOWAS Parliament Deputy Chairman for the Committee of Trade, Customs and Free Movement of Persons has disclosed that there are measures being put in place to resolve the issue of the Niger Coup.

It would be recalled that ECOWAS had announced a one-week ultimatum for the coup plotters in Niger to hand over power to the deposed president of the country, Mohamed Bazoum else all measures necessary to restore constitutional order in Niger will be taken.

However, speaking in an interview with Arise , Gebi said the solution to the coup is being done but it is not something that can be discussed on national television. He said the one-week ultimatum will elapse but more time will be given and there will be a peaceful resolution of the problem.

According to Gebi: “What should be the solution is being done and it is something that we can not discuss on national TV, unfortunately. There is a lot of movement, there is a lot of shuttle diplomacy and interdiction diplomacy and there are many layers that, perhaps, should have been kick-started long ago but better late than never. The deadline will come and go and nothing will happen. There will be extensions and they will be a peaceful resolution of this problem”.
