The immediate-past Speaker of Kaduna State House of Assembly, Yusuf Ibrahim Zailani, on Thursday, boasted that the National Chairman of All Progressives Congress, Dr Abdullahi Ganduje, has what it takes to make the ruling party remain in government for more than 60 years.

Zailani made the statement when he led a delegation of former House of Representatives members on a solidarity visit to Ganduje at the national headquarters of the party in Abuja on Thursday.

The development isn coming barely 15 years after a former National Chairman of the then-ruling Peoples Democratic Party, Vincent Ogbulafor, made a similar controversial statement.

The now late Chief Ogbulafor had boasted that the PDP was poised to rule the country for at least 60 years because of the good policies and programmes of the party.

But the PDP government under then President Goodluck Jonathan was defeated in the 2015 presidential election, seven years after Ogbulafor’s prediction.

Zailani, however, believed the ruling APC under the new leadership of Ganduje could stand the test of time.

President Bola Tinubu has said that the solution to Nigeria’s problem cannot be like instant coffee, noting that what the country is going through is like the pain of birth but after it will come merriment.

Speaking at the public presentation of “Brutally Frank,” the autobiography of elder statesman, Chief Edwin Clark, in Abuja on Thursday, he affirmed that the country is going through a difficult stage, but assured that the problems will be surmounted.

Tinubu pointed out that the federal government has started to provide palliatives such as the distribution of grains and provision of mass transit buses.

A former presidential aspirant of the All Progressives Congress, Chief Charles Udeogaranya, has hailed President Bola Tinubu over the appointment of the former governor of Ebonyi State, David Umahi, as the new Minister of Works.

Udeogaranya disclosed in a statement issued in Abuja on Thursday, noting that the decision to appoint the engineer-turned-politician has ‘calmed several frayed nerves’ following the earlier notion that Tinubu might not allocate any serious portfolio to the South-East.

While describing Umahi as a rare talent, the former APC chieftain who dumped the ruling party to support the presidential candidate of Labour Party, Peter Obi, in the build-up to the 2023 presidential poll, praised Tinubu for having an ‘insight to place a round peg in a round hole’ with the ministerial appointment.

He said, “President Tinubu was right on the money with his appointment of Engr. Dave Umahi as Minister of Works. This appointment has calmed several frayed nerves over his low numerical ministerial nominees from the South-East.

“It has once again proved that the handshake across the Niger is not totally neglected, and with what Umahi did in Ebonyi State as governor, surely will be replicated across Nigeria, exponentially. The President has scored 100 over 100 with this singular appointment.”
