The presidential candidate of the Labour Party in the last general elections, Peter Obi, has rejected the judgement of the Presidential Election Petition Court read on Wednesday.

Obi insisted that he would exhaust every legal process available to him.

Speaking in a press briefing in Onitsha, Anambra State, on Thursday, Obi disagreed with the judgement but praised the panel for delivering it in the stipulated time frame.

“In my capacity as a presidential candidate and on behalf of the Labour Party, we will immediately challenge this judgement through the appellate process, as permitted by the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.

“The PEPC is not the ultimate authority in this matter, the responsibility now rests with the Supreme Court, which I have confidence in. I urge Nigerians to maintain their focus, steadfastness, and commitment to peaceful processes. This matter has not yet reached its logical conclusion,” he said.

Atiku made the boastful statement during the press briefing in Abuja on Thursday while reacting to the verdict of the Presidential Election Petition Tribunal that upheld the victory of President Bola Tinubu.

He asked the PDP members to remain resilient, loyal and unwavering in their support of the party, and quickly reminded the unpatriotic members and other parties that PDP gave birth to them.

“Let me finally give hope to some of the delusional or disappointed members of our party. I am one of the foundational members of this party, and I’m still strong,” Atiku said.

“This party gave birth to any other party you can think of in this country today. Whether you are APC, or APM—whatever you call yourself—your mother is the PDP.

“What is most important for us is to make sure we remain loyal and faithful members of this historic party. This is the only party since the creation of Nigeria that is as old as it is today.

The National and State Houses of Assembly Election Tribunal sitting in Asaba, the Delta State capital, has upheld the victory of Senator Ned Nwoko of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) as the lawful winner of the Delta North Senatorial Election held on February 25, 2023.

The three-man Tribunal led by Justice Catherine Ogunsola dismissed the petition filed by Ken Kanmma of the Labour Party (LP) for lack of merit.

Delivering the unanimous judgment, the Tribunal held that the petitioner failed to prove his case as he could not tender before the Tribunal any relevant document to prove a case of non-compliance as contained in the petition.

Also, the Tribunal dismissed a petition of the All Progressive Congress (APC) petition against Nwoko filed by Senator Peter Nwaoboshi. The petition was dismissed by the Tribunal and a cost of N500,000 awarded against the petitioner.

The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has commended the Presidential Election Petitions Court for affirming the victory of President Bola Tinubu of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the February 25, presidential poll.

Wike, a chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), spoke exclusively during Channels Television’s Politics Today programme on Thursday, a day after the marathon ruling of the court.

“Nigerians have spoken, (and) the court has affirmed it,” Wike said.

The former governor of Rivers State hailed the five-man panel of the Tribunal led by Justice Haruna Tsammani for painstakingly delivering its judgment.

He urged the petitioners — PDP’s flag bearer, Atiku Abubakar; and his Labour Party (LP) counterpart, Peter Obi — to join hands with the Tinubu administration.
