Maryam Shetty Reacts To Withdrawal Of Her Nomination As Minister

I have found myself in a momentous chapter of Nigeria’s political landscape. President Bola Ahmed Tinubu bestowed upon me the immense honor of being nominated as a ministerial candidate. As someone from the traditional and conservative regions of northern Nigeria, this represented a significant step towards more inclusive national representation.

The overwhelming joy and pride that flooded my heart at the nomination cannot be adequately expressed in words. It was a powerful affirmation of my abilities, a recognition of my vision, and a signal that our great nation was ready to embrace a future where young women like me, even from the most traditional parts of Nigeria, could assume influential roles.

However, life’s inherent unpredictability led to the withdrawal of my nomination. While some might perceive this as a setback, my strong faith as a devout Muslim guided my understanding. I viewed it as the divine will of Allah, who bestows power as He sees fit and when He deems it appropriate. His plans always surpass our own.

Despite this unexpected turn of events, my gratitude to President Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu for considering me for such an esteemed position remains unwavering. This journey does not culminate here; I firmly believe it is but a stepping stone, and the best is yet to come. My determination to serve my beloved country, Nigeria, in any capacity available to me, burns stronger than ever.

To my incredible supporters, I want to assure you that this is not the end; it marks the beginning of a new era. I implore all of us to continue praying for our nation and to rally behind our president as he endeavors to improve Nigeria. Together, united under our #WEBELIEVE campaign, let us press onward.

I am humbled by the overwhelming support from international organizations and communities. Their outreach has left me truly amazed.

Although my nomination was withdrawn, my hope remains steadfast. As I have expressed before, “Hope is not lost; maybe I will come back again.” This phase of my life has instilled in me a profound sense of resilience, faith, and the recognition of service beyond titles and positions. It has reaffirmed my belief in the potential for positive change and in Nigeria’s inherent greatness. The dream lives on, and my commitment to our nation endures.

As we forge ahead, I pray for the good health and strength of President Baba Bola Ahmed Tinubu and his Vice President, Sen. Kashim Shettima.

May Allah continue to bless our great nation, The Federal Republic of Nigeria! #webelieve!🇳🇬
