THE Osun State Muslim Community, OSMC, an umbrella body of Muslim groups in the state, yesterday, exonerated Governor Ademola Adeleke of any wrongdoing in the compilation of the list of his cabinet nominees.

Addressing newsmen as part of the one-week event to mark the 1445 Hijrah Calendar, the President of the group, Sheikh Mustapha Olayiwola, said the governor has been balanced in his appointments, so far.

His words: “The Governor had first appointed his kitchen cabinets, who are all Muslims. His Chief of Staff, the Secretary to the State Government and his spokesperson are all Muslims and powerful members of the administration.

“Besides, the appointment of commissioners is not an exclusive duty of the governor, so many factors are considered in concluding, but so far, we believe the governor has done well and has not marginalised the Muslims in the state. Many appointments would still be done and more Muslims would be appointed.

“Our advice is that more Muslims should be involved in politics rather than staying away from it under the guise that it is a dirty game.”

No Military Solution To North West Security Crisis—Shettima

Vice President Kashim Shettima, on Sunday, said military offensives alone could not sustainably resolve the security crisis in the North-West.

Rather, he said it would take a mix of kinetic and non-kinetic strategies to restore calm in the troubled region.

“Unless we want to engage in an endless war of attrition, there cannot be a military solution to the crisis in the North-West. There has to be a kinetic and non-kinetic solution,” Shettima said in a chat with journalists when he paid condolence visits to the Galadanci and Mangal families in Kano and Katsina, respectively.

The State House Director of Information, Office of the Vice President, Olusola Abiola, revealed this in a statement he signed on Sunday titled: ‘President Tinubu’s solution to insecurity, poverty in northern Nigeria underway, says VP Shettima.’

The Vice President revealed that the Tinubu administration would, in the coming weeks, unveil an initiative to address insurgency and poverty, among other challenges confronting Nigerians, especially those living in the northern region.

In the next couple of weeks, we will unveil the Pulaaku solution, which will address the grievances and social exclusion of our Fulbe cousins in the North-West and also towards addressing the root causes of all the banditry and insurgency in the nation,” Shettima explained.

The Senate Leader, Opeyemi Bamidele, has disclosed that Ekiti State will get N4bn for construction of major roads in the supplementary budget passed last week by the National Assembly.

According to him, federal allocation was an extension of Governor Biodun Oyebanji’s drive for infrastructure development in Ekiti State.

Bamidele said that Ekiti State would benefit immensely from the amended supplementary budget passed and approved for President Bola Tinubu to be able to provide palliatives to cushion the effects of the fuel subsidy removal and address other nation’s economic challenges.

The federal lawmaker spoke at Ikogosi, Ekiti on Saturday after a service held at the First Baptist Church to commemorate the 90th birthday of Ekiti State governor’s father, Pa Ezekiel Oyebanji, who he said inculcated good deeds in his children.

Bamidele said, “Some of the new projects that were approved will be in overall best interest of Ekiti people. One of them is the sum of N2bn that was approved for the construction of Iyin-Ilawe Ekiti Road, which is something that we believe will connect not only the two communities, but will connect Ekiti Central Senatorial District with Ekiti South Senatorial District.
