Adamu's Resignation confirmed by APC NWC Member, Kyari Assumes Leadership

According to Thisday Live, on Monday, Nze Duru, the Deputy National Organising Secretary of the All Progressives Congress (APC), verified the departure of Senator Abdulahi Adamu, who held the position of National Chairman within the party.

While he affirmed Adamu’s resignation, Duru expressed uncertainty regarding the potential resignation of Senator Iyiola Omisore, the National Secretary of the party.

On Monday, Duru revealed to journalists in his office that according to the party’s constitution, Abubakar Kyari, the Deputy National Chairman, North, will assume the role of acting national chairman.

Duru explicitly stated, “I can affirm with confidence that the party’s chairman has voluntarily relinquished his position, and active discussions are presently underway.”

Emphasizing the significance of party unity, the influential party member insisted on Omisore’s anticipated resignation, urging him to do so in the best interest of the party.

Duru acknowledged his inability to verify Adamu’s presence at the gathering, yet he underscored the ongoing progression of the transitional procedures. Regarding the secretary’s resignation, Duru expressed, “I am not privy to any information concerning his resignation.

However, there is a strong anticipation for it, and given his extensive experience as a prominent statesman, one can trust that he will consistently prioritize the party’s welfare.”

Furthermore, it is essential to provide reassurance to the Nigerian populace that the All Progressives Congress (APC) remains an exceptionally robust party, firmly established on a solid bedrock of credibility, well-structured systems, and capable leadership. This firm foundation ensures a seamless transition into the next chapter of the party’s existence.

It is crucial to note that our expectations do not include the establishment of a caretaker committee. I previously emphasized that extensive consultations and discussions are actively taking place among all the party’s caucuses and diverse leadership levels.

It is well understood that our party’s constitution outlines a comprehensive procedure for the leadership transition. The Deputy National Chairman, North, will step into the role of acting chairman. Furthermore, it is anticipated that the position of party secretary will be filled by someone from the opposite faction.
