Tribunal: We Have A Firm Instruction Of Our Client To Challenge The Judgement – Livy Uzoukwu

Mr. Levy Ozoukwu, who is the chief advisor to the Labor Party and its presidential candidate, Mr. Peter Obi, has revealed that the presidential candidate of the Labor Party, Mr. Peter Obi, has given them strict instructions to challenge the presidential election petition filed yesterday. According to a Punch newspaper report, Mr Livy Uzoukwu made the disclosure yesterday, when he was addressing journalists, shortly after the court delivered its judgement.

He said: “Our clients are not satisfied with the ruling that was just issued and we have firm instructions from our clients to appeal the ruling. Maybe by tomorrow, we will get a copy of the ruling and once we get it, we will move to work.”

Furthermore, the Labor Counsel explained that if the country is not careful, electoral jurisprudence will disappear, noting that Nigeria is one country where litigants always find it difficult to prove their case due to hurdles along the way, starting with the Independent National Party. In addition, he noted that if care is not taken, the opposition may resort to some other means while trying to seek justice.

It would be recalled that the Presidential Election Petition Tribunal, sitting in Abuja, yesterday delivered judgment on the petitions filed by the Labor Party and its presidential candidate, Mr. Peter Obi, challenging the election that produced Bola Ahmed Tinubu as President.
