It Is Unacceptable For Hundreds Of Innocent Lives To Be Lost In Nigeria – Peter Obi

Peter Obi, the candidate for the Labour Party for president in 2023, has stated that it is unacceptable for hundreds of lives to be lost in Nigeria.

Obi expressed his regret for the nation’s overall condition of insecurity, particularly in the north-central and south-east areas, in a series of tweets on Thursday.

He declared: “The country’s growing insecurity, which is fueling senseless bloodshed, especially in the country’s North Central region, and the South East’s ongoing disruption of commercial and social activities are both growing increasingly worrying.

“Recently, the violent attacks in the North Central states of Plateau and Benue took a new turn, with high rates of kidnapping, arson, and fatalities. The 1st Quarter Mass Atrocities Casualty Tracking Report indicates that over 1230 Nigerians perished.

“79 of them were security personnel, and there were almost 600 kidnappings in only the first three months of this year. The number as of today will be staggering, even far more than the recorded fatalities in the ongoing slaughter in Russia and Ukraine, given what has recently been happening in the North Central and Zamfara State.

It is unacceptable that many innocent lives will continue to be lost in Nigeria as a result of racial tensions, banditry, and kidnapping operations.

Because of the large number of lives and property lost with little resistance from security personnel, the situation in the Mangu Local Government Area of Plateau State has caused a lot of concern.
