If the PDP Approved Its Members Joining the Government, Then It Has No Business In Court —Shehu Sani

Senator Shehu Sani has stated that if the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has approved of its members joining the Tinubu-led APC government, then the party has no business being in the election petition tribunal.

The former lawmaker, who said this in a post on Twitter his handle, was reacting to a comment by the immediate past Governor of Rivers State, Nyesom Wike, moments after he was sworn in as the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).

While responding to questions from newsmen after the swearing-in ceremony, the ex-governor, who is the only member of an opposition party in the government, said:

“Before this appointment came, I wrote to the party’s National Chairman; I wrote to the minority leaders in the Senate and House of Representatives; I wrote to the zonal chairman of the party; I wrote to my state chairman, my governor and all of them wrote me back and said I should accept it.”

He added that the President wrote to all the 36 state governors requesting ministerial nominations and they all submitted ten names each.

Understandably, Senator Sani’s tweet triggered a flurry of reactions. However, the opinions of those who commented on it were quite diverse. While some said the PDP, at the moment, is quite confused, others said there is no difference between the PDP and the APC. Yet, others agree with the senator that the PDP has no business in the court, with someone even suggesting that the party only escorted the Labour Party (LP) to the tribunal.

What is your take on this?
