According to Nyesom Wike, the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), if Peter Obi, the candidate for the Labour Party (LP), had been a better choice, Nigerians would have voted for him in the election on February 25, 2023.
Wike said this exclusively on Wednesday Politics Today programme on Channels Television.
The former governor of Rivers State declared that in the hotly contested election, he supported the All Progressives Congress (APC) presidential candidate over former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, the nominee of his party, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
Wike responded that he no longer talks about presidential candidates when asked if Obi would have managed the major problems facing the Nigerian economy better than Tinubu if he had been elected.
He said, “I no longer want to talk about the presidential candidates or social media issues; instead, I talk about the economy and the President and what he can do. If Peter Obi would have been better, Nigerians would have voted for him.”
