I Want You People To Go And Hit Your Hand On The Car And See Whether It Is A Treated Car – Wike

The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has dismissed the rumour that he bought a 300 million naira bulletproof car on his assumption in office. While addressing reporters after his tour of the Abuja Light Rail, Wike challenged the reporters to go and touch the car and see whether it was bulletproof.

Following Wike’s assumption of office, there were reports that he arrived at the office in a 300 million naira armoured Lexus car.

In his reaction to the rumour, Wike said that he has not approved any car to be bought, and that he does not use a bulletproof car.

In the report which was made by Channels Television on Wednesday August 23, the former Rivers State governor said – “We are now going to the office to have a direct report from each of the departments, but I have seen what is going on in the social media; how you (FCTA Permanent Secretary) bought a bulletproof car of N300m that I am using.

“So, I want you people to go hit your hand there (on the car) and see whether it is a treated car. With all due respect, people should be careful not to destroy other people.”

He said that when he assumed office, the Permanent Secretary said that they have a car for him, and showed him the car.

He said that he is not using a bulletproof car as FCT Minister, and urged people to always report the right things and not try to destroy other people.

The Punch had earlier reported how Wike arrived at the FCTA in an armoured Lexus LX 600 SUV with a plate number that had the label “FCT-01.”
